HANDS UP FOR EXCELLENCE

Hands Up For Excellence was designed by Vichi Resources Consult and Stalwart Communities in association with Paradigm Trust, owners and managers of three ‘academy’ schools in east London, and Kineara Limited, leading practitioners in supporting families and strengthening communities, developed from the award-winning Family Intervention Project in London’s Tower Hamlets.

It was a short professional development course in London for stakeholders designed deliberately to guide delegates along the elusive path that leads from competence towards excellence. It was a five-day programme with specific theme arising from working with early-years and primary children, intensively exploring avenues to inform, challenge and inspire them. Key topics covered included;

  • Teaching pupil’s with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Assessment for learning
  • Creative lesson design and embedding technology
  • The role of school in the community

Delegates were opportune to observe classes regularly throughout the course, and each day closed with a plenary discussion on applying fresh ideas in established practice in Nigeria.

The course took place at Culloden Primary, Old Ford Primary and Solebay Primary, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets under the dynamic leadership of Executive Principal Amanda Phillips CBE. These Paradigm Trust schools earned a glowing reputation for excellent results and best practice in teaching, learning and positive engagement with parents and their communities.
